Someone suggested that the needle valve on the float may be … WebJan 2, 2012 · As was mentioned in a previous posting, at this point you might consider disconnecting every vacume line connected to the carb and manifold and capping each port. Then connect your vac gauge to one port that you know has vac at idle. Doing so removes other variables. Set your initial timing and idle speed.

WebJul 9, 2010 · FACTS: The accelerator pump will leak with boost over 10psi (it leaks under that too just not as much, still dangerous) They don't like a whole lot of fuel pressure but this is mandatory for blowthru: 7psi base fuel pressure+10psi boost=17psi fuel pressure inside the carb with a 1:1 boost referenced fuel pressure regulator. WebDec 26, 2005 · It's easy to check. Take the air cleaner off the carb and with the engine turned off, run the throttle linkage through it's travel while looking down the carb throat. Try it fast and slow and watch the stream of fuel. Is it a good stream like you'd piss after drinking 3 PBR's? If so, check if the secondary air flaps are opening too fast.

I am using M&H's breakerless ignition with a 396/350hp turbo 400 and 30 over cylinders. Engine has been running at low rpms for a couple years and I never noticed the backfire issue.
