I am new to this but when I was paper trading on think or swim, I usually put my vertical in as a limit order at the midpoint between bid and ask. WebI've also had some trouble getting fills that are ~30 seconds old when trading shares. It does just seem that they have a very buggy paper trading platform. I'd recommend trying a different one. It's worth mentioning that Think or Swim with real money is amazing - its just the paper trading system that is buggy.
